Melissa Turner
Vice President and partner of Legacy Academy, IncMelissa is Vice President and partner of Legacy Academy, Inc. In her role as VP, she has successfully overseen the development and opening of every Legacy Academy for Children® early care and education center throughout several states. Melissa is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the University of Georgia and has had a successful career in banking, managing a billion dollar wholesaler of mortgage loans. She has successfully overseen SBA loan applications with her franchisees. Melissa received Governor Sonny Purdue's appointment to the Georgia Early Care and Learning Board in 2005.
Melissa and Frank served as the owners of Legacy Academy for Children® in Oakwood, Georgia from 1997 to 2002. Under Melissa's leadership as the Director of this school, they successfully achieved NAEYC Accreditation in 2000. This hands-on operational experience has proven to be a huge asset as they support new owners. Melissa and Frank are ongoing sponsors of the Autism Georgia Golf Tournament, AFLAC Cancer Center and Dare to Share. Frank and Melissa are the proud parents of two children - two huge reasons for their decision to commit to the early care and education industry.


Frank Turner
President and partner of Legacy Academy, IncFrank Turner is President of Legacy Academy and of our affiliate, Commercial Contractors, Inc. Frank has been actively involved in the construction business for over 20 years and personally oversaw the design and copyright of our building. Frank oversees the site selection and building of each of our schools. A successful real estate investor and developer, Frank graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia with a degree in business information systems. Prior to his development of Legacy Academy, he had a successful career in the high tech industry focusing on telephony and videoconferencing. Frank serves on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America NE Georgia Council.


Laura A. Newman
Quality Assurance and Education Program SpecialistLaura brings to Legacy Academy twenty four years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. Her varied roles include: Resource Coordinator, Program Coordinator, Interim Director, Director of Education, and classroom teacher. Laura attended The Ohio State University and holds a B.S. in Elementary Education. She designed curricula for numerous early childhood programs while managing her own education consulting business which provided accreditation support, parenting and early education workshops, and the design and development of newsletters. Laura marketed and then facilitated a support group for mothers of large families while serving as a volunteer patient caregiver for a local hospice agency, helping to meet the end-of-life needs for patients and their primary caregivers. She sits on the board of the Georgia Preschool Association as the Fulton County District Representative, is an Advisory Panel Member of the Georgia Child Care Association (GCCA), and is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Georgia Association on Young Children, and The Southern Early Childhood Association. Her broad knowledge of NAEYC criteria includes leading two centers through the process of re-accreditation. Laura and her husband Lee reside in Roswell and have four children. In her free time, Laura enjoys reading, vacationing in the mountains and at the beach, decorating, and carving out segments of the day to nurture her soul in order to be the best she can be.


Breshia Daniel
Franchise Support SpecialistBreshia Daniel manages Franchise Support with the hopes of one day owning her own child development center. With experience as Operations Manager of a small business, she will earn her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in the fall of 2011 and pursue an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education soon after. As a volunteer working at a program serving infants through school age, her hard work and passion for children allowed her to achieve the role of Assistant Director. Her broad knowledge of NAEYC, Georgia State Licensing requirements, and the understanding of the funded GA PreK Program, offers Legacy Academy a strong foundation in tandem with her business acumen. Breshia believes that a key part of her journey has been the relationships developed with children, parents, teachers and child care professionals. The ability to work closely with the program allowed her the ability to practice what has been learned while strengthening her skills. She and her husband reside in Norcross with hopes of having children of their own.
