Legacy Athens Activities

Athens Young Musicians Studio provides all of our children with music instruction that includes exposure to musical concepts as well as hands-on experimentation with basic instruments. This class is held every Wednesday and is included with tuition.

Spanish Classes are provided to all of our children by our very own Patricia Chavez. Patricia was born in Mexico and is a native Spanish speaker. As a regular member of our staff, Patricia understands our children and how to hold their interest. This class is held on Tuesdays and is included with tuition.

Sign Language Classes are provided weekly to all of our children as part of our classroom activities. Our teachers are instructed in basic American Sign Language and they share this knowledge with our children. This class is included with tuition.

Homework Hour is held Monday through Thursday afternoons for our school age children. We are committed to making sure we provide an opportunity to start the homework process once our Elementary children arrive at Legacy from school. We survey our parents to determine which children should be encouraged to take advantage of our homework hour and how we can help.

Extracurricular Activities

PLAYBALL is an early sports program offered to children between 2 to 9 years of age that actively incorporates the development of life skills through learning the basics of 12 different sports skills. Life skills include confidence, sportsmanship, cooperation, independence, flexibility, responsibility, persistence, leadership, goal setting, self worth, respect, positive relations, decision making, courage, and communication. It has been scientifically proven that physical activity has a profound influence on academic performance. PLAYBALL provides children at Legacy Academy with an opportunity to develop every aspect of their lives. PLAYBALL owner Tara DuVall, along with her assistant, teaches PLAYBALL at our center every Friday.

Kim's School of Dance offers a Tap/Ballet class for children between 3 and 5 years of age that perfectly combines instruction in Tap and Ballet basics. Since Ballet is the basis for all dance technique, this class offers an excellent foundation for young dancers. Additionally, tap strengthens coordination and improves large motor skills. All of the activities in this class teach the proper shifting of weight and patterns in movement while being executed to fun music. The lessons are structured yet flexible enough to meet the needs of preschool aged ballerinas who need to have fun while they are learning. At the end of the year, the ballerinas host a recital for all to see and enjoy. Owner Kim teaches dance at our center every Thursday.

Gymboree Play & Music offers Gymboree on the Go classes that are specially designed to offer fun-filled activities for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Play enhances social skills, cognitive development, physical ability and self-esteem. Music plays an equally important role in a child's development. Research has verified that early experiences with music set the stage for success in language, reading and math. All classes are presented by trained Gymboree instructors who teach at our center on Mondays.

Haircuts are offered on Mondays by Kelly Vega, a stylist with Salon M in Watkinsville. Parents sign their children up for haircuts at our front desk and select a style from a style book. Kelly then comes to our center and cuts the children's hair to those specifications. Kelly is wonderful! As a mom, she knows exactly how to make the haircuts an enjoyable experience for our children.
