Kim Powell - Director
Kim Powell is the Director at Legacy Academy, Mill Creek. She was born in Michigan, but was raised in Lynchburg and Roanoke, Virginia. She started at Legacy Academy Dacula in July of 1999. She served as Program Coordinator until May of 2002, when she was promoted to Director. She earned the National Administrator Credential in June 2002. Legacy Academy Dacula earned NAEYC accreditation in July of 2003 under her direction. In December of 2004, she helped open Legacy Academy Hamilton Mill in Buford, creating a high quality program with the Hamilton Mill team. Prior to her work with Legacy's management teams, she had over 10 years of experience working with all age groups and received an Associates Degree from Florida College, with a major in Education. Kim enjoys spending time with her daughter, who she adopted in 2003, traveling to Virginia to see extended family, shopping, and spending time with friends.
Sunshine Thomas - Assistant Director
Sunshine Thomas is our Assistant Director at Legacy Academy, Mill Creek. She was born and raised in Oakwood, Georgia. She joined the Legacy Dacula management team in August of 2002. She was with Legacy Academy Dacula as Curriculum Coordinator when they earned their NAEYC accreditation. In December 2004, she helped open Legacy Academy Hamilton Mill as Curriculum Coordinator. Her experience includes owning and operating a Military Family Child Care Home while she and her husband lived in Mannheim, Germany for four years and also in Fort Drum, New York for three years. Through the military's family child care system she earned her CDA and is currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree. She now has ten years experience with all age groups of children. Sunshine enjoys shopping, reading, watching NASCAR races and spending time with her husband and her two children. They love being part of the Legacy family.
Stacy Mullenax - Curriculum Coordinator
Stacy joined the Legacy Academy team in April 2007. She recently relocated here from Connecticut where she was born and raised. She spent her high school years and first two years of college in Florida. In 1988, Stacy graduated from Manatee Community College with an Associates degree in Elementary Education. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2001, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology; then pursued her career in the early childhood education field. She has over 7 years of classroom experience with preschool age children. In May 2001, she also married her high school sweetheart and they are now the proud parents of a little boy and are soon expecting their second child.
