Legacy Sugar Hill Activities
PLAYBALL is an early sports program offered to children between 2 to 9 years of age that actively incorporates the development of life skills through learning the basics of 12 different sports skills. Life skills include confidence, sportsmanship, cooperation, independence, flexibility, responsibility, persistence, leadership, goal setting, self worth, respect, positive relations, decision making, courage, and communication. It has been scientifically proven that physical activity has a profound influence on academic performance. PLAYBALL provides children at Legacy Academy with an opportunity to develop every aspect of their lives. PLAYBALL owners, Scott and Jennifer Valiquett, are the coaches that teach PLAYBALL at Legacy Academy Sugar Hill. Scott is launching a swimming program for children, SWIMRITE, that is sure to be a huge success.
Creative Movement and Dance offers a combination Tap/Ballet class perfectly combining instruction in Tap and Ballet basics. Since Ballet is the basis for all dance technique, the combination of both, work hand in hand. And all of the activities that teach the proper shifting of weight and patterns in movement are executed to fun music. The teachers are well trained and among the most qualified dance instructors in the South. Creative Movement and Dance teachers come to Legacy Academy Sugar Hill prepared for a fun-filled class complete with age-appropriate lessons. The lessons are structured yet flexible enough to meet the needs of preschool through primary aged ballerinas who need to have fun while they are learning. At the end of the year, the ballerinas host a recital for all to see and enjoy.

Metro Music Art and Movement, we have the most fabulous music teacher in the nation!!! Mrs. Yvette Cleckley has been our music teacher for the last four years. She comes to Legacy Academy Sugar Hill with an extensive background in music. She studied music in college at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Mrs. Cleckley has performed the National Anthem at a Braves game, a Falcons game and also for the Atlanta Glory. She also was a background singer for a grammy award winning artist. Mrs. Cleckley has been a music teacher for more than eight years at preschools throughout the Atlanta area and has been singing and performing for over 20 years. She hopes to one day be a performer on a cruise ship and based on our experiences this will one day be a reality. Music with Mrs. Cleckley is included in the weekly tuition.
The Bus Fair is the latest extra curricular activity to Legacy Academy Sugar Hill. This mobile gym bus provides plenty of opportunities for the children to learn and enhance their gymnastic talents. The bus is full of exciting gymnastic centers: a zip cord, ball pit, balance beam, tumbling mats, climbing wall and rope, and many more!! Ms. Lora is the owner of the Bus Fair and she conducts these weekly, structured gymnastics classes for children aged 2 through 5.
Humility, honesty, gentleness, perseverance, self-control, unbreakable spirit...these are the principles of Choi Kwang Do. Choi Kwang Do is a dynamic, innovative approach to martial arts that is tailored to be effective for today's modern society. Children enrolled in Choi Kwang Do will learn how to act and react positively in many situations. Children will get exercise, improve their coordination and motor skills, and learn the importance of the non-violent approach to problem solving. The class will help some children to channel aggression while encouraging others to be more assertive. Choi Kwang Do will help children learn the meaning and value of terminology including courtesy, self-discipline, confidence, and leadership.
Junior Achievement is an enhancement to our curriculum for our Private Pre-K classroom. Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. It brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential. The Junior Achievement program is tailored to expose preschool student to basic concepts and principles, teaching them how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers.
Poetree Pals and its "Lead to Read" concept create an environment that is both fun and inviting to assist children in learning the wonders of language and reading through its totally interactive learning center. Through this unique and fun learning experience, the Poetree Pals program focuses on the development of several skills including: Building and expanding vocabulary; verbal expression and intonation; rhyme and rhythm in poetic verse; reciting through memorization; and reading comprehension. Children develop multi-sensory skills and are motivated through a series of successes and event-oriented reading processes. This is an enhancement to our Private Pre-K curriculum.
Homework Hour is held Monday through Thursday afternoons for our school age children. We are committed to making sure we provide an opportunity to start the homework process once our Elementary children arrive at Legacy from school. We survey our parents to determine which children should be encouraged to take advantage of our homework hour and how we can help.
