Legacy Sugarloaf Activities
"Como Amanecio" and "Que Paso" are a few of the phrases that Mrs. Luz teaches the children at Legacy Sugarloaf. Spanish is included with tuition and offered daily. Mrs. Luz has been with the Legacy team since 2004. She uses songs, finger plays, stories, dancing and fun to teach the students the language of Spanish.
"Down by the train" and "Goo Goo Ga Ga" are just a few of the songs that children get to sing with Mrs. Kleckley, our very talented music teacher, from Metro Music. She studied music in high school and college and has taught music for seven years. Her experience includes singing at the Atlanta Braves Game three times, performing concerts at her church and conferences with audiences numbering in the thousands, and singing back-up vocals on a Grammy award winning artist's recording. Music is included in your child's tuition. The children love to watch, listen and sing with Mrs. Kleckley.
What do you call skeletons, fossils, oobleck, plant life and taste tests? You can call it science time with Ms. Victoria, our science teacher, from Terrific Scientific, who visits our center twice a month for our 3 year olds, 4 year olds and school age children. She brings with her experiments that excite and challenge our preschool and school age children to think like a scientist!
Creative Movement and Dance offers Tap Ballet and Hip Hop for ages 3 to 5 years of age. These classes are structured programs designed for the early development of ballet and movement. They precisely meet the needs and limitations of preschoolers by providing a carefully paced sequence of exercises to develop physical conditioning with poise and grace. Since children naturally respond to music and movement, the activities are presented through music. In the Tap/Ballet program, children learn self-discipline, listening skills, coordination skills, left and right discrimination and patterns in movement. Tap dance studios across the nation offer Creative Movement's Tap Ballet and Hip Hop to age 3, 4 and 5 students to enhance self-confidence and enthusiasm.
Holmes Martial Arts is proud of the Little Dragon Program offered to 3 and 4 year olds. This class covers a number of different techniques that the children will enjoy while developing coordination and confidence, without feeling overwhelmed. They work to insure that each student leaves the class with an "I Can" attitude.
PLAYBALL is an early sports and movement program offered to children between 2 to 9 years of age that actively incorporates the development of life skills through the means of sports skills. The basics of 12 different sports skills are taught. The life skills learned include confidence, sportsmanship, cooperation, independence, flexibility, responsibility, persistence, leadership, goal setting, self worth, respect, positive relations, decision-making, courage, and communication. It has been scientifically proven that physical activity has a profound influence on academic performance. PLAYBALL provides children at Legacy Academy with an opportunity to develop every aspect of their lives.
