Wendy Mattucci, BSN & Chris Mattucci
Owners
Co-owners of Legacy Academy for Children, Chris and Wendy share a passion for “excellence” regarding the education and care of young children attending their preschool. Wendy brings 20 years of experience as a health educator with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, creating and delivering disease and preventive health education on a national scale. Her passion for education continues with a focus on the needs of young children. Chris has been responsible for construction, building operations, and management of numerous commercial and residential structures and has personally overseen the building of their Legacy Academy School. He has worked with local boards, residents, and families to optimize the Chapel Hill campus. His personal objective has been to ensure a fun and safe environment for the children. Chris and Wendy have Children of their own and understand the value of providing a confidence-building environment. They are devoted to the parent-child-teacher relationship, and to providing an exceptional environment that facilitates dynamic learning and development. 
Claudia Shiell-Melloni
Director
Claudia is a graduate of the Catholic University of Lima in Education with specialization in Linguistics and Literature. She has been working in the educational field for 15 years, first as a classroom teacher and then as Curriculum Coordinator and Program Director in different countries. Claudia moved to North Carolina 8 years ago with her family where she designed an innovative Spanish-integrated curriculum for early childhood preschool centers and after school programs. Additionally, she provided interpreter and translation services to various organizations. After completing numerous Preschool Administrative and Certification programs, she is currently completing my Masters Degree program at Duke University. In her free time, Claudia loves to travel, listen to music and read.
Jennifer Arnold
Assistant Director
Jennifer began to work in the field as a young adult, developing a passion for young children and their amazing capacity to grow and develop socially, academically, and emotionally. Now as an experienced educator and administrator, she guides others in all aspects of a child's growth. Jennifer graduated from East Carolina University where she obtained her Bachelor of Art in Psychology, simultaneously completing classes in Child Development and Family Learning, experiencing the rigors of owning her own facility at one time. Jennifer is married with three wonderful unique children. She is very excited to be a part of Legacy Academy and looks forward to enhancing the growth of your child through Early Learning.
Laura Newman
Quality Assurance and Education Program Specialist
Laura brings Legacy Academy 24 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education as a classroom teacher, Resource Coordinator, Program Coordinator and Director of Education. Laura attended The Ohio State University and holds a B.S. in Elementary Education. She designed curricula for numerous early childhood programs and at one time ran her own education consulting business and facilitated a support group for mothers of large families. Laura was a volunteer patient caregiver for a local hospice agency while providing end of life needs and supporting the primary caregivers. She sits on the board of the Georgia Preschool Association as the Fulton County District Representative. She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Georgia Association on Young Children and the Southern Early Childhood Association. Her experience with NAEYC includes helping lead two centers through the process of re-accreditation. Laura and her husband Lee reside in Roswell, Ga and have four children. In her free time, she enjoys reading, vacationing in the mountains with her family, decorating, relaxing at home and carving out segments of her day to nurture her soul in order to be the best she can be.
